I interviewed Joanna Delfin to find out more about my dream job in nursing. Ms. Delfin is a nurse practitioner at Glenn Burnie, she works mainly with young children at an urgent care organization called Kinder Mender. A day before the interview, I had met with an older nurse to find a good time for the interview, the next day when I saw that Ms. Delfin looked significantly younger I was surprised, I hadn’t been expecting someone who looked so young. When we introduced ourselves and she seemed extremely friendly from the start. She had done two years at UMD before getting her bachelors at Marymount in Virginia. I was nervous before the interview and I think it’s the reason the opening to my interview had a little bit of a rough start. I didn’t notice it at first until later in the interview, but after introducing each other and getting some of her contact information I jumped straight into the interview questions. Even though I had explained what the interview was about to the nurses at the front desk I hadn’t explained it to Ms. Delfin. I think she knew mostly what it was about but I explained the purpose of the interview when she asked later in the interview. I think this one of the things I could have explained in the opening of my interview, which I think should have been slightly longer. I also forgot to ask her if I could record the interview, which if she had said “yes” would have been easier during the interview since taking notes while she was speaking and paying attention to her at the same time was a little difficult. Thinking back on the questions I also think that I was pretty direct, which isn’t a bad thing but, I feel like I could have asked questions about her responses too, but I mostly stuck to the questions on my outline. I think the conclusion of the interview went well too, I made sure she knew I was extremely grateful for her time especially since she’s a nurse and urgent care can get
