Nurse Initiative In Nursing Education

According to the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (2017), the TIGER initiative began in 2005, due to a need for nurses to be involved in the advancement of healthcare information technology. Basically, to get the nursing field "up to speed" with the growing field of informatics. Since, nursing is one of the largest workforces in the United States, the need for a large scale and coordinated effort to integrate informatics into nursing education became necessary to prepare professionals for a career in healthcare (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, 2017).

The TIGER initiative is very interesting to me, because it is a great example of nurses coming together to problem solve. Technology, in healthcare,
