Political ideologies which work to support the basic human right to health care will ensure appropriate funding is allocated to those communities and individuals who are in need. Support of these policies comes by voting, educating, and volunteering for campaigns which support and focus on the health of underserved communities. Furthermore, I am interested in the promotion of initiatives which educate the importance preventative care and accessibility to health care; as these initiatives have a profound effect on community health. Specifically, organizations like the Colorado Coalition for the Medically Underserved and the Grand County Rural Health Network provide resources for those in need and opportunities for community members to get involved. These organizations also provide platforms for community discussion and act as agents of social change. They advocate and provide resources for individuals to get access to health care they need, as well as, help individuals navigate the health care system. Caring for those who are underserved is and will always be an essential part of my personal and professional mission. Working in a critical shortage facility and in rural health, are the two major ways I am able to directly contribute to the mission of the Nurse Corps, I genuinely believe that working in a critical shortage facility will give me the exact clinical and personal experience I need to work and thrive in any health community. Directly out of school, my primary focus will be to work in a large hospital with a Health Professionals Shortage Area (HPSA) designation, such as, Denver Heath. Additionally, I will try to finding employment in a low income clinic, such as, in one of the many Metro Community Provider Network (MCPN) clinics which are accredited by the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA). As mentioned, my experience in either clinical setting will be a necessary stepping stone so that I can gain the knowledge, experience, and credentials I
