Numbers Nerds Musical Analysis

Improved Essays
On November 17th, my friend and I observed a musical at Carroll University called Numbers Nerds presented by the Carroll players. The musical is about a Waukesha high school competitive math team who received second place in their state competition due to their team captain getting stage freight. However, one of their competitors cheated on a problem and the Waukesha team was able to progress to nationals in New York. Although the play consists of a lot of disagreements between the main characters, they do grow as individuals and in the end, become friends once again.
This was the first college play I have viewed and I thought it was very well done. The actresses did a fantastic job. They not only did a great job in portraying their characters

It was nice to hear the story of an actor from New Brunswick that made it into the business and was successful. It gives us hope that with hard work it is possible to succeed in this line of work. The story that was told is a story that I will keep close to my heart because I recognized myself in a few situations that he spoke about. It was a wave of so many emotions; happiness, sadness, just to name a few and it was amazing. I would recommend this play to a future audience if he were to do a second run of performances because it was pure and…

On Monday, March 7, 2016 at 7:30 pm, I attended the Broadway play called, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Heymann Performing Arts Center. In particular, I am not a huge fan of musicals, decided to see the anyway on the recommendation of a childhood friend. Despite my reservations to view a musical, I truly enjoyed all that the performance had to offer. Some main points of the play that interested me were the amazing use of lighting, how well the costume designs were executed and how well the songs fit with the production. First, the lighting was used to indicate times of the day and the locations, such as intensified orange and red lights in the background to signify the blazing sun in the desert.…

This play was one of the longest plays I had ever sat in on, but it didn’t feel like it. The characters and the story kept making me want more. It was that good! This play, however, did provide more than just entertainment. It provided a sense of wonder, wonder about the lives of the characters, what they felt, what they thought, and what they did.…

All the actors seemed very professional and owned the characters they were playing. There was just something about Abele that caught my eye. For instance, every time Brittany Caldwell (Molly in The Gnädiges Fräulein) asked Abele to rock with her in the rocking chair she did not hesitate and went overboard. She exaggerated the movement and moaning to an extent that made you laugh because she was not scared to make a fool of herself. In addition, she had her own excerpt in the begging of the scene that really set the tone.…

I thought the play was well written well played and the actors really did an awesome job of grabbing my attention. The actors acting from the emotionally standpoint was very well played with the crying and you could even feel it during their soliloquy songs as if what was displayed in the musical actually happened to them which was very good. Also, the singing was very good, the actors’ vocals had good harmony pitch and volume making it tolerable. The audience laughed at the jokes and for some reason they clapped at the end of each scene but my knowledge of live plays are limited as it was my first one. Most of the audience stayed after the show to meet the actors and tell them what a good job they did.…

I think that almost all of the production elements were good and had an overall effectiveness; it is understandable that you could not have everything just perfect because that would cost a lot of money. One thing that I noticed about the play was that it was a little drawn out; because of those points in the play I would start to lose interest in watching the…

As the actors spun the set design I became filled with anticipation for what was about to occur, but as the musical progressed my excitement toward the play dwindled. It was almost as if the initial spinning of the stage disoriented me and I was dizzy and confused for the rest of the night. Without the girls beside me explaining the play to each other during intermission I never would have known what was going on. The actors all performed wonderfully, but there were too many actors with unspoken problems to follow.…

On January 19th, I watched the play entitled “Driving Miss Daisy” written by playwright Alfred Uhry which was featured at the John Golden Theatre in 2010. The play told the story of a wealthy Jewish woman named Miss Daisy Werthan, her son Boolie and the African American driver named Hoke who was hired to drive her around after Boolie became worried about his mother’s safety following a car accident that occurred prior to the play being introduced. Although there were many things in the play that caught my interest, the elements that were most crucial to the play was the set design and the acting. I think even though there were only 3 actors throughout the play and there wasn’t any big landscape changes, the play was entertaining and the acting was believable and well-done. I also believe that the setting of the play was an interesting choice because the only thing on the stage in one of the scenes was 1 white chair and a wooden bench.…

Sideway stories by wayside school was, to me, unexpectedly good. Usually I do not like stories made for children but this felt different, I have also never read the original story as it never really made it to Europe. I think most of it is because of three aspects. The acting, the way the play was adapted from the books and the stage production.…

After watching it, I know that the script has depth and the characters are all mysterious and almost crazy. The script helps the audience members find out secrets about each character that draws them into the stories and the characters lives. The actors who portrayed the six characters all had moments that created a believable character for the audience and truthful moments and feelings that the audience could delve into. However, there were also untruthful moments concerning the drinking of alcohol that created a wall between the audience and what was happening on stage. Overall, it was a good production and with a few fixes it could be completely believable from the beginning to the…

Every performer that was in this production did a very good job of acting. Some of my favorite actors were Tilly Evans and Orucs. Tilly Evans was one of the main characters of the whole production. She was a nerdy 15 year old girl who loved playing video games, specifically, Dungeons and Dragons. Right away in the play she had died and left behind her sister Agnes.…

I attended the play “Three gods walk into a bar” at the Crowder College Theatre on Thursday, October 20th, 2016. I have not watched a play for at least 4 years and have to say it was one of the best plays I have ever been to in my life! The play has a great atmosphere where the emotion is constantly changing from comedy, to sadness, anger, anticipation, and then ending with acceptance for how things are and that you cannot necessarily change things. The humor was quite enjoyable in the play. I loved how well Erick Jackson played Jesus/Joshua who in my opinion did a very good job, so much that I was touched and at the end of my play went back to my dorm and started reading my bible once more.…

One had said one day they want to be an amazing actor one day because their major was entertainment/theatre. How I felt about this play is that it was not to my high expectation when I saw it. The actors in some scene was be fragile when they was acting. In the other scene of the play of “The Good Doctor” was great, for “The Sneezer” the actor in that play caught the audience attention. The actor in that act was showing so much emotion in that act and I could tell the relationship with the actors in it was strong.…
