Number Bond Reflection

The motiving events for the lesson plans were, “Today, we will be learning about number bonds. Raise your hand if you know what is number bond?” I decided to ask a question in the foundation of the lesson because I knew students had already mastered the idea of number bond since Mrs. Harrington been teaching them number bonds the day I start observing the classroom. I also asked the question to strive to ensure that every student understands what’s expected and brainstorm their previous learning, foster critical thinking skills and encourage good listening. Few of my students did raise their hand to define what is a number but I choose only three students because of my time limit. In the opening of the lesson, students did perception while I was explained what is number bonds and …show more content…
The feedback was, have clearer instructions so that students know what they are excepted to do. Before contributing the assignments to students show two or three number bonds from the worksheet, likewise I do first, then you do, lastly, we do. And ask students once again if they understand, if not show another example using smaller number bonds like 2+2=4. Conversely, I also like the feedback from my professor. For example, have more assignments for a student with higher fluency, who finished their work early. Ask students what 4+1 equal to clarify their understanding, and don’t give up the answer to students. Make sure students understand why the answer is wrong and how can they fixed it. Also, observe the students to see who understand the instructions and who is not, then, ask one of the students to retranslated the instructions to make sure others understand what has been excepted. Also, use the level of English that all student will understand because in the class we have students who are English Language Learners, and they might not understand all the English

I was assigned to work together with Lisa Adamson and Katie Doherty. My group and I were in charge to teach chapter eight sections four and five. Chapter eight section four was about functions, and chapter eight section five is about coordinate system. Surprisingly, our group previously taught a lesson of a fifth grade math class, and our sections tied into teaching up to the middle and high school level. I enjoyed these sections and I will discuss how I felt working as my group and how I individually performed.…

Overall, I received fair feedback. Although I was able to hit most of the skills from each category there were a few that I missed from each. During the actual practice I was very focused on not messing up and hitting the key points. However, once I was finished and recapping over the session I realized both strengths I have developed and challenges I still need to work on. This experience showed me what I have have learned thus far in class and also what I still have to learn.…

I encourage my students to participate in the classroom and told him not to be shy because I was also once and EL L student. I found out that giving positive feedback will encourage them and give them more confidence which helps them communicate a lot better. We also taught them social courtesies like manners and politeness, because different cultures sometimes tend to have different courtesies. Taught them how to express their emotions and thoughts, what is appropriate to talk about and what is not. Moving to a new place results in culture shock so these rules had to be taught.…

On the day of Shelby and I’s presentation I was excited to share our fun and interactive math activity with my classmates. We incorporated a lot of SIOP strategies that were explicitly shown in our slides throughout the whole presentation. It was extremely helpful to receive feedback from our peers about other ideas, strengths and weaknesses in our lesson plan. Some of my classmates told me that we should ask questions that extend their thinking so I included this during the lesson and this was really helpful advice.…

Based on data I collected from coach observations, peer observations, and feedback I decided to focus on OETF indicator 1.B.1: Plans meaningful tasks that require student ownership. Upon determining that indicator and creating a teacher practice goal based on the data I collected, I began to further breakdown my observation feedback and use that as a baseline level. I noticed from my initial feedback that all of my students were not engaging in the task completely. I felt as though I could better support my students as I want them to all feel successful. In order to do that I worked with my coach and reflected on my task and how it could be adapted in the planning stage to be more meaningful.…

The concept of education is how to learn, understand material, and knowledge that is taken in. Through education certain values and beliefs are developed. These beliefs, habits, and skills shape a student’s character. There are two controlling factors that come into play when discussing the concept of education; one is the teacher and the other is the student. As illustrated in Richard Feynman’s article, “O Americano Outra Vez,” a student’s learning focus is overwhelmingly influenced by the teaching style they are subject too.…
