Number 23-Personal Narrative

Jayna sat near the fire that Number 23, formally known as the pig-thing, had built for them, as she stared into the flames, she wondered how she had come to be here and what had happened to her memory. Once the initial violent confrontation, with what she had decided were dinosaurs, was over and she had lost her fear (or at least most of it) of Number 23, she began noticing the changes in her self. She had been a late bloomer, most of her friends from her sophomore class were fully developed while she herself had lagged behind. What would they think if they could see her now? Obviously mature and with a body she herself would have envied not long ago, at least not long ago memory-wise. Jayna had come to the conclusion that she was definitely …show more content…
“No need to test me Goddess, I remember. You killed nineteen of my people and one giant.”
“That's only twenty.”
“You told me the giant counts for three, that makes twenty-two. See Goddess, I haven't forgotten, I remember every detail of my encounter with your divine vengeance.”
Jayna said nothing at first, she was lost in thought. Had she really killed so many or was Number 23 insane? If not for lethal manner in which she had dealt with the dinosaurs, she would have been sure of the latter. Now she was filled with doubt, what kind of woman had she become?
“Tell me everything you remember of the day we met.”
Number 23 sighed, “I suppose a Goddess must be sure of her devotees.”
Jayna listened intently as Number 23 told her of the day they met. Number 23 and two others were moving toward the human village, when she appeared behind them and slit one of his fellow's throat. Her canine sidekick ripped the throat out of another and when Number 23 attacked her, she cast her hand toward him, a knife appeared in his head and he fell to the ground. As he lie there helpless, she put her foot on his chest and the point of her sword touched his

“Hello, yes of course I can understand you, I am not a beast, I speak the language of Morpheus just like the rest of the intelligents. My name is Fanna.”
23 spoke, “Fanna, you are in the presence of the Goddess of vengeance.”
Fanna bowed and hunched down in front of her, Jayna stepped forward and took her hand.
Jayna had no choice but to play along, “Stand up Fanna, I'm not the kind of Goddess you bow down to, I'm the kind you look in the eye. Right 23?”
“Yes Goddess, Fanna come with me and I will instruct you in the proper protocol.”
“But I need help! I need to talk to the Goddess now, before she rises back into the heavens.”
“First I must instruct you,” 23 insisted.
Fanna sounded desperate and Jayna's heart went out to her, but she didn't want to upset 23 either.
“Fanna go with him, I'll still be here when you get back.”
Fanna nodded and followed 23 out of Jayna's earshot, it was then Jayna noticed the unicorn standing nearby, watching closely over her. Jayna decided it was time to give the unicorn a name and she walked over to it, put her hand on its neck and gently stroked
