I do agree that the constitution was founded on the belief that states have freedoms by nature, and that the purpose of a federal government system is to maintain that freedom for its citizens. Also, that the federal system should not take any power not given to them in the constitution. In saying that, I also agree that there are cases in which the federal government has its citizens in its best interest when it makes decisions. The movie made the federal government seem to be completely “wrong” in every case. It also gave off a sense that this was a blanket issue; or that the federal government is always wrong or bad, and the states are always right. The founders of our country also wrote the constitution with intention of maintaining peace among the country. I believe that there are some issues so conflicting for people, that if states had final say in the issue, it would disrupt peace between states. Issues such as same sex marriage are permitted in some stated and not permitted in others. Complications and confusions come from this division among states. Because of this, I simply thing the federal government should step in and make a decision affecting every state as a whole.
