The nucleolus which is also known as the brain of a cell, is the most significant part in the nucleus. It takes up about 25 percent of the nucleus and it is not surrounded by a membrane. Through a microscope, the nucleolus is a big dot in the middle of it. It can be found in an animal, plant, diploid, and eukaryotic cell. It was found in the eighteenth century but its function wasn’t discovered until the 1960s. The nucleolus lives in the nuclear matrix.

Sadly, the nucleolus is one of the reasons why a variety of human diseases occur. That is because of its important job of producing ribosomes and its connection to chromosomal matter of a cell. It is also noticed for making people age. Most of this evidence comes from a study of yeast cells. It is also from the premature aging disease, Werner syndrome.

It’s interior was revealed by a transmission electron microscope. The fibrillar component is divided into two different sections. The dense fibrillar component and the fibrillar center. In the granular component, there is ribosomal subunits that are waiting to be transported to the cytoplasm. There is a continuous chain in the middle of the nucleoplasm and the interior parts of the nucleolus which takes place through an arrangement of nucleolar passages.
