Despite competition from cheap natural gas and tax-payer supported wind and solar energy, nuclear power has no equal. Among sources of electric-power generation, it plays a crucial role against the battle to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions. Nuclear power is one of the few technologies that can quickly combat climate change. This can cut down Global Warming by being very efficient, it can be very safe, nuclear power reduces the need for fossil fuels, and this power can be used constantly other than wind or solar energy which requires a breeze or the sun to be out. Due to ever increasing of pollution, Global Warming is impacting everyone, and nuclear power is the only way to stop it. It can be produced very rapidly and generate a lot of revenue. Moreover, this energy can be reserved much easier than gasoline or coal. For example, some sources say that for nuclear power to produce energy it has to have a steam shaft which cost millions of dollars. However nuclear power is just uranium ores firing up steam and there is no burning. To put differently, since there is no burning it is easier to control, faster to generate, and doesn't require much space underground. As stated in, Quick Facts: Nuclear Energy in America by Joseph E Pollick it states, “Nuclear power plants generate electricity 24/7 at a 92 percent capacity factor. This is more effective than other types of energy—combined-cycle natural gas, with a 56 percent capacity factor; coal-fired at 55 percent; and wind at 33 percent.” As shown, nuclear energy can be produced very rapidly and stored very easily compared to competing energy sources. Nuclear power also creates more revenue for the government. Other than coal plants which require a lot of people to keep track of, nuclear plants run on its own and there only has to be a few hundred people. This decreases the need for paying the workers and wasting money. In addition, this reduces the need of changing pollution filters in fossil fuel plants which cost millions of dollars per year.
