Environmentally there are a number of obvious issues that affects the world we live in today, such as the fumes being released from the plant itself, river pollution, and impact to the that the plant is built on. Coal-Fired Plants also use up a lot of water as this is expressed by the editors of (Green Peace, 2016) “The world 's 8,359 power plants use enough water to meet the basic needs of one billion people, Greenpeace 's ground-breaking work shows.” Coal-Fired Power Plants not only cause damage to the environment but also damage to people, such as miners and from the pollution. As according to the editors of (Green Peace, 2016) “When people who work in mines, or live close by them, inhale coal dust and carbon, this hardens their lungs, leading to black lung disease. An estimated 1,200 people in the US still die from black lung disease annually.” However, this is not the only issue that effects people as the environmental effects people through pollution.
