1. a) Why circuit switching does not exploit statistical multiplexing
Circuit switching deals with keeping some secure bandwidth when the circuit is being configured.
The statistical multiplexing means splitting some links among different connections depending on the needs arranged by the connections.
Circuits switching is not vigilant on whether single connections offers any other demands and spares bandwidth
It is therefore evident that it does not use statistical multiplexing
b) Why statistically multiplexed systems need to tackle stability issues unlike circuit-switched systems
The statistically multiplexed system supplies gains by trading …show more content…
It is the smallest capacity which is needed to make sure the QOS for all virtual connections sharing the virtual path if the new request has to be admitted.
2 a) Reasons why Http and DNS need TCP and UDP respectively
DNS is brought prior to validating TCP connection and being it the reason why response time is important.
It cannot allow large latencies due to TCP connection structure.
HTTP only transfers larger amount of data, and needs a genuine mechanism.
DNS requests are short packets that issues the IP address for a name and maybe some other dependable name server addresses.
The reliable protocol semantics of TCP would be costly in the DNS case.
b) What could happen in DNS if its UDP based request or response packet is lost
If DNS request packet are lost, the resolver would devote that there is a short-term failure in name resolution or it could delay without any reply.
If a retransmit mechanism procedure has been built into it,
There could be a chance of retrying after a time
