Therefore these changes allow me to construct stronger sentences and that is when the skills I learned manifest in my writing. Due to my ability to adjust my sentences I can use rhetoric in my writing to persuade my readers to understand my perspectives.
7. Throughout the semester I struggled with clearly formatting my arguments to be understood by others. After reviewing my writing and evaluating it, I was able to not necessarily resolve this issue in my argumentative paper but my argument became clear. Through my courses, I have learned about research being done that involves generating and processing large sets of data, which require the assistance of outside facilities such INBRE, and have noticed a growing demand for people who understand the techniques necessary to process such data. However, there is limited resource available at university to learn such techniques, which is why I’m excited to learn more about the techniques at the internship. I am currently working in Dr.Cripps lab where I screen for transcriptional regulators of adult myogenesis in Drosophila by RNAi, and determine transcriptional factors of extradentin; my research has led me to dabble in the use of position weight matrices in the prediction of such factors, and I…

The barrier language that I have between Hmong and English is what makes my writing difficult to understand from the start of the school year, not only that, but also just me trying to throughly write an explanation of what I have thought of in mind. Sometimes it doesn’t come out on the paper as I have, have in my thoughts. Which in return create flaws in my level one, two, or three writing paper that affect my writing skills. The flaws that I have slightly improve on my writing: create a clear and stronger thesis statement, subject- verb agreement, and transitioning. Constructing a firm claim and allowing the reader to be able to identify which position I’ve take through my writing by creating a rough draft of what I am going to say in…

Over the course of English 102, I have developed a new set of skills and learned to become a better writer. When I first came into English 102 I struggled with many different concepts of writing. During the semester in English 102, my writing became stronger because I learned how to incorporate evidence into my argument, do more thorough research, have smoother transitions, and have more organization throughout my essay. I learned how to peer review better and to take what others say and incorporate it into my essay. In the beginning, before English 102, I struggled with good organization and flow to an essay, sandwich evidence into paragraphs, and having strong arguments in persuasive essays.…

Writing has changed my perspective on various aspects of my life. Some of the essays that I have written in the past have opened doors to new ideas. These essays have helped me make connections I feel I never would have made without writing. I believe this is because I enter my deepest level of concentration when I write. This heightened level of concentration I reach when writing has allowed me to reflect on important areas in my life such as self-awareness and motivation.…

The course AFAS 160 D1 is my first online class, and until now I still felt lucky to choose this class as one of my general education classes, because it gave me a great opportunity and an eye-opening experience about learning the African American Culture which I have never learned before and also gave me a chance to learn online. Describing this course to someone else, I would say this class is interesting and if you want to learn this class well, you need to prepare the Voice Thread and read the book carefully. To be honest, making videos on Voice Thread gave me a unique experience. I still remembered the first time I made a video on Voice Thread how nervous I was, I was afraid to have different ideas with other students and worried if they disagreed with me what should I do?…

I would have to show “how” this quote would should that thing, “why” the author decided to do what they did, and to what effect that had created in the reader. While working on my final draft I kept these comments in mind. I made sure I was answer the “how” and “why” of a text rather then the “what”. I had to look deeper within the situations and quotes I was picking to make a rhetorical argument. To put in career context it is essential, whenever working in the business field as a business writer or marketing writer to convenience the audience to buy the product. Looking back on the papers I written throughout the semester there were ups and downs, however it is interesting they continue to focus the usage of rhetoric. The first paper I written was rhetorical analysis and clearly its primary objective was to persuade the audience through the usage of logos, pathos, and ethos. It wasn’t my best paper nor was the task easy because of the topic I chose was too narrow and didn’t provide enough information to make a valid point in my writing. From there I saw my mistake as not choosing a…
