It was the beginning of May 2014 (end of 7th grade) and my dad had found out about a great opportunity. He was very excited and told me that there was going to be a new school built at the campus of Aurora University that was focused on STEM. My dad asked me if I wanted to fill out the application to go and I said no. I didn’t want to leave all my friends to go to a new school. My dad always forced me to try new things and new experiences so I knew he wouldn’t take no for an answer.
“You love technology and science, so you will love the school.”
“But I want to stay with my friends here, if I go there I wouldn’t have any friends.”
“You can make new friends, and they also give you a Chromebook to use instead of papers and pencils.”

He gave me the form to ask my science and math teachers for a recommendation. After all the paperwork was done, we sent it in and a few weeks later we got a reply.
The letter said that I was accepted and included were more forms and more paperwork to fill out. We sent everything in and then came the last day of school.
I told all my friends I would be leaving and I wouldn’t be there for 8th grade. My friends said that they would miss me, but I told them that it would only be for a year and I would see them again in high school.
The summer went by quickly and I was excited to start first day at STEM School. When I got there, I found out that there was one person from my old middle school. His name was Swaapnik. I hadn’t talked to him much, but we became good friends by the end of the year. I met all my other classmates and

We had a big science project for eCyberMission that we had to submit. Our teacher asked us to submit it to her first, to make sure we included everything that was required. When we got our grade back we were surprised. She had given us a 64% and said we had a lot to improve. We very upset about our grade because we had spent the whole weekend working on it and making changes and we had still gotten a bad score. We decided to submit the project anyways because we very happy with our work. A few weeks later we got the results and found out we had gotten 2nd in state for the competition and we had won a $500 savings bond for each group member. This experience made us realize that hard work does pay off and it doesn’t matter what grade you get on an assignment. As the year went on I started to enjoy going to school more because the experience boosted my confidence. We also went onto entering another competition for recycling and we won 2nd in that also. We won $500 in total for our whole

This week assignment was a little confusing because I have never done a diagram with a computer software. Even though creating a diagram on a computer looks easy to do, it is different when you must make sense of it and guide people to understand it. Before I decided to choose a program, I went ahead and drew a draft of the network diagram with pen and paper. I sketched the diagram so I can have an idea of where to start and what I wanted to reflect on my final draft.…

Doing this assignment I have learned that dealing with money or being in high power isn’t my thing. Which is why I am thankful we have people in congress that have the time and patience to deal with such things. The decisions congress makes about Social Security are not just something they glance at they really have to take the time to consider both people that have money and those that don’t. Congress has to think for both sides of the economy because if they didn’t people would being to think that they only listen to people that have money. Which I believe is somewhat true.…

Before this course, I did not know grammar well, and what I did know I did not fully understand. Yet, due to taking the course, I learned more about the structure of the English language, and can use grammar better than I did before. For instance, the first three major assignments were filled with missing comas, verb-tense misuses, and run-on sentences. Now, I may still make mistakes, but I know why I have made them. In other English courses, I had grammar homework and reading assignments that, often, seemed to be busy work, but with this course, I did not think that was the case.…

Every since I started high school, I knew I wanted to work hard and do the best that I could so I could go to a good college. The summer before sophomore year, My friend Maddie was telling me about a charter school she was joining called Success Academy. She said it was less than 20 miles away from where we live and included college courses with kids from high schools all around the area to achieve an associate's degree upon high school graduation. Being the highly neurotic teen I was, I decided not to apply with her and attend regular high school with my best friend Gabby. Eventually, seeing how much fun Maddie seemed to be having at Success Academy and how much she enjoyed it, I decided to attempt recieving admission.…

The goal of this project is to learn how to study students and their learning. I was placed in a third grade class at Carl Cozier and learned a lot from my learning partner as well as many other students in the class. I spent about half of the day with my LP and the majority of the time spent together was in the classroom setting. The six things I observed about my LP include her physical presence, relationships with others, activities and interests, modes of thinking and learning, strengths and assets, and vulnerabilities. To begin, I observed my LP’s physical presence.…
