In the book, “Something Wicked This Way Comes” by Ray Bradbury, the situational archetype of the battle of good V.S. evil is present in relation to the character of the Dust Witch. The textual evidence of “One shot… The Witch fell”(Bradbury 252) conveys the battle between good and evil where Charles Halloway represents the forces of good, and the Dust Witch represents the forces of evil. The author conveys this archetype by relaying how Charles Halloway volunteered to fire the rifle used in a magic trick that involved the Dust Witch catching the bullet in her mouth. Charles Halloway, however, knows that the Dust Witch’s weakness is laughter, so he carves a smile on the bullet he uses to shoot the Dust Witch.
