The author seemed to include every minute bit of her research into the book, and it would have been so much better with some hard editing. Individual paragraphs would have a random sentence inappropriately thrown in, interrupting the narrative. Very disorganized! That being said, the story itself was great. I liked the lack of conflict not wanting to give anything away, I won’t say more than that, but it was really, really refreshing to read a story about good people doing the best they could. The epilogue was really touching. I would have loved to know these two fantastic ladies. I really did like Dorothy and Ros, and I admired their adventurous spirit (like me) and their willingness, to roll with the flow when they faced situations so different from their sheltered, wealthy childhood. A story about two young girls heading west to teach for a year in the early 1900’s should be a fascinating and adventurous book. But unfortunately, the book is written in a boring manner that it managed to bore me even during a kidnapping. It took over 100 pages until we get the chance to read about the actual year spent on Colorado. They found love along the way, married afterwards and moved on. The actual story was
