Donald Trump’s Wall Necessary or Unnecessary Donald Trump’s immigration plan has an outrageous bill. He calls for an increase in security along the border that the United State just does not have. Donald Trump’s main point on illegal immigration is, he wants to build the wall on the border of the Texas and Mexico. The question I am posing for this paper is is Donald Trump’s wall cost effective and is it really necessary? This was said by former Mexican president Felipe Calderon. Donald Trump has said many times that Mexico is going to pay for it, but he has also said that through the trade deficits the United States currently has with Mexico that Donald Trump has said he is going to fix the trade will all nations but he had said that with the trade deficits fixed the money coming in from Mexico will pay for the wall. “Mexico must pay for the wall and, until they do, the United States will, among other things: impound all remittance payments derived from illegal wages; increase fees on all temporary visas.” This was taken from Donald Trump’s campaign website, he goes on to say “increase fees at ports of entry to the United States from Mexico [Tariffs and foreign aid cuts are also options].” Through increased tariffs and foreign aid cuts as well increasing the cost of Mexican, CEO Visas will essentially pay for the wall. Donald Trump’s wall is not a feasible project to help the country combat illegal immigration. The money is not there and the amount of work it would take to build the wall. Just the amount of concrete necessary to build it would be more than four Hoover Dams! The Hoover Dam has 6.6 million tons of concrete in it, the wall plan calls for more than four times that amount. Also, the cost of tripling the ICE and the United States Customs Border Patrol may be necessary to combat the problem but at this point in time, it is not a realistic goal because the money is not there. The country is in sixteen trillion dollars in debt without a major influx of money and paying the debt off the country does not have the money to complete this project. President Bush and Obama failed the Security Fence Act of 2006 is still not complete and it was just a fence and it cost almost 2 billion dollars. A wall that is four times the size of the Hoover Dam is not going to cost six billion dollars. I believe that Donald Trump’s plan for immigration is exaggerated and that wall is just a way to stir the country up and to raise concern for the real problem of illegal immigration. The wall that he proposes does not have a set height or thickness. The cost is way too high for the American government at this point in
