Michel de Nostredame other wise known as Nostradamus was born on December the fourteenth of 1503 to parents Reyniere de St-Reny and husband Jaume de Nostradame. Nostradamus was born in Saint-Remy-de-Provence, France and had eight other brothers and sisters making him the ninth child. His parents were in the working class; his father was a grain dealer as well as a part time notary. Nostradamus is from a Jewish descent, as his grandfather Guy Gassinet converted to the Catholic faith trying to not be victimized during the time of the Inquisition. Guy then changed his name from Gassinet to Nostradame.

Prophecies were in sections based on centuries, there were one hundred cryptic. There were also obscure quatrains for every century. Quatrains are a poem with four lines in a diversity of different languages such as Italian, Greek, Provencal and Latin as well as others. Nostradamus made his predictions in a form of poetry so that he would not be prosecuted for practicing magic. When this was first published did not receive a lot of attention but the French court did notice it and requested a visit from Nostradamus. Queen Catherine de Medici wanted Nostradamus to tell her the horoscopes of her children. Nostradamus first real public prediction was that the Queen Catherine would out live all of her children but all of them would be kings. This prophecy ended up being true; the queen left her throne to a brother upon her death. Before the queen died she grated him Physician in Ordinary and visited him
