Prophecies were in sections based on centuries, there were one hundred cryptic. There were also obscure quatrains for every century. Quatrains are a poem with four lines in a diversity of different languages such as Italian, Greek, Provencal and Latin as well as others. Nostradamus made his predictions in a form of poetry so that he would not be prosecuted for practicing magic. When this was first published did not receive a lot of attention but the French court did notice it and requested a visit from Nostradamus.
