My experience at Northside College
Northside College impacted me in many different ways. Before I start the school, I was very worried about the barrier of language because I was not a fluent English speaker. However, all teachers supported me generously in classes so that I would not be left behind during the class. Additionally, ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher supported me many days so I do not get lost with my assignments.
Everyone in my grade was very kind to me and I could make so many friends over three years. I am so thankful to Northside College for giving me such a great experience and I will miss all of my friends and

I was a member of the K-5 cheering team from the time I was in kindergarten to the time I was in fourth grade. The peers I had when I attended are still a big part of my life. Even if we’re not the closest of friends, I still feel an unbreakable bond with those kids that I shared tears and laughter with for nine years straight. Graduating the eighth grade was tough for me, I didn’t know how I was supposed to leave behind the place where I had grown up for the majority of my life. That school was comfort to me, it was a safe place where I knew I would be respected.…

An experience that changed my life forever was coming to Northwest Christian for high school. Before I attended Northwest I spent all of elementary school and middle school at Rancho Solano. Although my time there was great, it was taught in a strictly academic worldview. Then during my eighth grade year, I made the decision to enroll in Boulder Creek High School. I began to get nervous because of the change in size, but then I started to embrace the idea of change.…

Well it has been almost 4 months that I have been attending Roanoke Valley Early College. I love it here and I don’t see how anyone couldn’t. So far I have learned a lot about school. By taking time to observe my surroundings and everyone around me, I have learned that everyone in high school is not your friend and that I am learning how to sense a bad vibe before I let anyone get too close to me. RVEC is the only school that has taught me that all teachers are not these people that hate their job because the teachers here including the ones I don’t take yet are always showing us that they really want to be there and help us and teach us.…

My school offered opportunities for the students to get ahead and build lasting connections with professionals. The classroom sizes were fairly small so teachers were able to memorize student’s names and familiarize themselves with each individual. Due to the equal resource disbursement I was able to thrive in my schooling environment. Building a robust relationship with my science teacher was able to earn me an internship with a dentist that was her friend and exhort me to mobilize upwards in society. From interning for the dentist it opened doors to more internships and opportunities that I was able to access and turn into social capital.…

Attending Cass had many ups and downs, I created new bonds and watched the old ones either fade away or come back even stronger than before. When I arrived on the first day I was proud of myself, ever since I was a kid I wanted to attend Cass Tech and now one of my dreams came true. At Cass I met a variety of people, all from different paths of life, although I began at Cass on the quiet and temporarily stoic side I still met people who enjoyed the things I enjoyed and became friends with many more. Unlike some of my peers it took me a long time to get used to the friends I made due to me not even being comfortable with myself. Coming from a single parent household, I gradually became more and more uncaring and due to other circumstances I began to have trust issues so, it took me a while to get into the swing of things at Cass.…

The average high school reality is that you will not have the same friends you started with. Throughout the four years you will lose many friends, but also gain new ones.
