The recent announcement by the Pentagon of the new created Director of the Innovation position. The position scope is to facilitate and fast track the development and application of the new military technology. The creation of the position was suggested by Eric Shmidt, who is a former Google CEO and is the head of the newly formed Defense Innovation Advisory Board. The Director of the Innovation has not been currently filled. The emphasis and direction of the position is an investment into the Artificial Technology field, moreover Russia and China have been investing in the AI development and innovation for some time. The Pentagon is ready for the heavy financial investment in the state of the art next generation defense technologies. It is in the discussions to implement the nuclear infrastructure modernization and the replacement of the Boeing-built Minuteman missile systems, operated by the U.S.A. Air Force Combat Command and are long-range, solid fuel, three stage intercontinental ballistic missiles. Northrop Grumman is anticipated to participate in the future tender process pertaining the replacement. The estimated cost of the replacement contract value is $85 billion US dollars. The Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit model will undergoing an upgrade to the service’s bat winged, nuclear capable bomber to be in the operation past 2050. It will be equipped with avionics computer processors and with digital nuclear weapons; the new radar warning receivers that will allow the bomber to receive messages in the event of the nuclear detonation.
