Northern Middle School: A Case Study

Each school is filled with specific needs of students. Therefore Mrs. Smith conducts student needs assessment to determine what programming is needed for the students at Northern Middle School. This assessment is typically conducted within the first month of the school year. By being the only school counselor in the building complying with the 80/20 rule with direct and indirect services is extremely difficult. However, Mrs. Smith has specific barometers in place to guide her day such as Google forms. Google forms assist her with how many students are seen per day. This form has the following categories (gender/referral type/ASCA Domain/Areas where the concern is focused—school, home community, etc/Concerns).
