During ten thousand B.C. at the Northern Hemisphere, an abrupt global climate change that led to glacial like weather occured. This period is known as Younger Dryas Climate Event. Due to the earth warming, the ice age starting melting. This huge amount of freshwater started flowing into the gulf through the Mississippi River and also to north Atlantic from the east coast. This unusual flow of freshwater into the saltwater caused the water currents to change suddenly causing different weather patterns. The earth started experiencing freezing temperature that were comparable to the glacial period right before (NOAA, n.d.).
