At North View Nursing Home you would be expected to have a good understanding of the needs of the elderly people. I will introduce you to Rebecca. Rebecca is one of the residents that have dementia. Due to this fact, Rebecca gets confused sometimes because she can’t remember the people working with her. As a new member of staff you should understand that we apply Behaviourist perspective in our setting. If Rebecca displays challenging behaviour, then we would use negative reinforcement to stop the poor behaviour and extinguish it, we do this by telling her that she not allowed to go to the park on the weekends. If she stopped displaying that behaviour and instead displayed better behaviour, then she would be rewarded by allowing her to go to the park
