In addition the difference between North Miami Senior High school (NM) and North Miami Beach Senior high school (NMB) are my friends, the students and the teachers. Changing schools means new environment, new students and having to start all over. My friends would often skip class and I would be the voice of reason to talk them into going to class, and sometimes would even walk them to their classes and watch them go inside and take their seat which then affected me because I would go to my next class late but it was all worth it, the reason why was because I cared about their future and education. Although I was the voice of reason, sometimes I fail into …show more content…
After the second time of getting caught I learned my lesson and realized that the voice of reason was becoming part of the chaos. Skipping classes due to my friends started affecting my grades and attendance. I wouldn’t be in class for my assignments which I was not able to turn in because I did not have an excused absence, which then led to me having a “Z” , in that assignment which represents two F’s. Therefore, the decision of me leaving North Miami Senior High school and attending North Miami Beach High school iPrep program was the best choice which impacted my high school years drastically, because at NMB, it was a new school and I was not familiar with all the students, and I did not have any friends around me to influence me to skip class or school. The students in the magnet program were focused in school, always attended class, and completed their work. So that motivated me to be the best that I can be by completing my classwork and the iPrep students would be there to assist one another so that we could complete a vigorous assignments and achieve a good

Another reason why my decision wasn’t the smartest is that I didn’t gain anything from cheating. I thought that if I cheated on this test I would get an A+, but this wasn’t the case. Since I got caught cheating, I ended up with a zero on the test. I don’t know why it occurred to me that I would be able to get away with holding the study guide under my desk, but in the end I did the crime, so I had to face the consequences. Now that I am in high school, I know that…

Brain brawl is a club in sandalwood high school that entails competing with other schools in a jeopardy stylized game. During my time there the teachers in charge Mr. Alfonso and Ms. Copley used various methods of the social contract theory in order to figure out what the varsity team would be. Now there was around ten members during my senior year to break it down to seniority level we had: three seniors, one junior, two sophomores, and four freshmen. The major example of the social contract theory at work is the act of tacit consent due to all the senior members publicly consenting to the teachers that they were willing to be left out of the varsity team if the teachers believed that it would increase our chances of winning. The teachers in charge were going to vote on who they thought deserved to be on the team and without the senior’s consent there would be no fairness in the vote.…

There are various reasons as to why I’m deserving of the Etna-Dixmont School Scholarship. The most prevalent reason is my family history and connection with the town of Dixmont. My father and my grandparents moved to from Massachusetts to Dixmont, Maine when he was in second grade. My grandfather bought a house on Route 9 in Dixmont, and some other land in addition to that. The Dixmont Corner Church was built in 1835, and had an active one room school house next to it that was built in 1808.…

On August 29th, 2005, Hurricane Katrina hit the city of New Orleans, leaving in its wake flooding, destruction, death, and the collapse of a corrupt and bankrupt public school system (Polier, 2006). Katrina left the city of New Orleans without physical school structures, without school organization, and most significantly, without a population capable of paying taxes to fund new schools. In response to this problem and the existing problem of a bankrupt school system, the United States government offered substantial financial assistance to organizations and districts that would open charter schools (Garda, 2011). Hurricane Katrina was seen by some as a blessing to the New Orleans school district, allowing for a complete reconstruction and reform of education. The reform was seen as an opportunity to improve prominent race and class inequalities, along with issues centered on teachers and teacher…
