North Koreans suffer all their lives, by the countless human rights violations brought upon them by their very own ruler of Kim Jong-un and the North Korean government. The North Korea public suffers from many violations such as starving, police brutality, forced pregnancy’s, forced abortions, torture, executions, false imprisonment, and hard labor. These are just a few of the enormous amount of human rights violations. This paper will cover the three most common and most occurring human right violations that occur in North Korea. The first and third most common human rights violation false imprisonment and forced return. For years many of North Koreans have tried to escape from the tyranny of their ruler. There are a few that are lucky enough to escape North Korea, but when the people of north Korea escape they head towards the closest country without guarded borders China. When they get to China the escapees are reprimanded and then take back to North Korea " Nine North Korean teenagers have been forcibly returned to North Korea.” (Nine 3-2013). Nine North Korean teenagers escape and head for China but are arrested by the Chinese government and forcibly returned to North Korea. After being forcibly returned to the country the group of teens were running from they were subjected to torture, ill-treatment and put into prison camps. " Two North Koreans, who are part of a family of five who fled the country, have been forcibly returned to North Korea." (Two 9-2013). Again North Korean people leaving, running from their own country. A family of five run from North Korea and while on the run they run to China and two of the five are caught and arrested by the Chinese government. 200,000 men, women, and children held in prison/labor camps for as little as saying something ill against the North Korean government. Starving men, women and children work from dusk to dawn while being pulled aside and beaten and tortured. North Korea adding new prison camps yearly and making the size of cities and some camps wrapping around cities. " Satellite imagery has provided telltale signs of these abuses, including the use and expansion of notorious political prison camps (kwanliso)." (New 3-2013). Even in new prison camps conditions for the prisoners are terrible. Most prisoners in new prison camps experience starvation, hypothermia, and torture. “Prisoners are forced to work in conditions approaching slavery and are frequently subjected to torture and other cruel, inhumane, and degrading treatment."(Images 5-2011). The groups that watch over and report on the prison camps have been chocked at what they see is defined as worse than expected. “We expected to find a new or expanded prison camp. What we found is in some ways even more worrisome,” (New 3-2013).
