The only reason Kim Jong Un is the leader is because his father died and he was the eldest of 3 siblings. Having an inexperienced leader in control of an entire nation is like letting a child run a High corporate business. When the child finds that people are talking about the way he runs the business it will anger him, the same way it angers Kim. Kim Jong feels his military does not trust him and fears the idea of a revolution during his dictatorship. As stated in an article “He’s struggling to gain complete control over the military and to win their loyalty. That’s why he’s doing so many visits to military bases, to firm up support" (McNeill). So to counter this feeling of weakness and being seen as a child, he wants a better nuclear arsenal. President Barack Obama stated to press that "Although more often than not they fail in these tests, they gain knowledge each time they engage in these tests," he added. "And we take it very seriously" (McKirdy and …show more content…

It is stated that If China were to fear some of those missiles might be coming its way, anything might happen" (Navarro). A Chain of event could occur, like China feels threatened then shoots a missile back at the U.S resulting in an all out nuclear war. The thought of this scenario of occurring scares most Americans. Which is why preemptive measures should be placed in case North Korea actually invades or shoots a missile at South Korea or any other country. North Korea says these missiles are for defense only, but their leader Kim Jong says he will use these missiles when he feels threatened or as an declaration of war. "Provocations will not be limited to a local war, but develop into an all-out war, a nuclear war" (Randall). The only thing on North Korea 's mind is war today. Peace with this country is now a thing of the past. North Korea will ultimately vaporize themselves or the world with their endgame. It is the United Nations devoir to keep rogue countries like North Korea subdued and

(Hook 9) Therefore, the United States should tread carefully in order to avoid exposing itself to weaknesses in how it approaches foreign policy under Donald Trump. The greatest issue in foreign policy today which threatens US supremacy in the world is how we should react to the threat North Korea poses with its possession of ICBMs and other weapons capable of mass destruction. On one hand, the crusader will charge and face the threat, but will ignore critical factors like the possibly of blowback from Russia and China while the pragmatist will search for the best avenue of success, but that will simply delay our response to North Korea whose leader, Kim Jong Un, is unpredictable.…

If North Korea feels threatened, they can launch their nuclear weapons and potentially instigate a nuclear war. Although the economic sanctions enforced by the international community have been successful in the short-term, it is not a long-term resolution that will restrict North Korea from developing more nuclear weapons.
