With the singing of the armistice brought an end to the Korean War. North and South Korea decided on a zone in which there would be no military fire or a cease fire. After Kim Jong Un took office there has been some controversy surrounding the armistice he called it “invalid”. “Since last week, North Korea had been threatening to scrap the armistice after the U.N. Security Council passed tougher sanctions against it in response to its February 12 nuclear test.” (Madison Park, 2016) The first exchange of fire happened on November 23, 2010 when North Korea dropped shells on a small island in South Korea killing two soldiers (Sinha, Beachy, 2014). The South did take the blame for initially starting this by testing missiles to close to the border. It started a fire fight and the first military interaction in years. On March 31, 2014 North and South exchanged fire over a controversial western sea boarder (Sinha, Beachy, 2014). Although there were no bullets actually shot at each other there rounds were unloaded into waters close by meant to be taken as warning shots. North Korea proclaims that it will not follow the armistice anymore because of joint military drills run between South Korea and the United States (Sinha, Beachy, 2014). Kim Jong Un is threatening to end peace that has been there for more than half a century. He is short tempered and irresponsible. That is why the US and other countries can not trust him. That is why the US is preparing South Korea for a future
