Furthermore, other countries such as China and South Korea have not pushed North Korea enough to abandon the nuclear program because they believe North Korea will not obtain any weapons any time soon and if they did, they would not be attacked (Lefkowitz). Countries other than America are more relaxed towards North Korea with nuclear power so, then North Korea is not feeling pressured to drop their nuclear program. As a result, the longer North Korea tries to obtain weapons, the longer their people suffer. In addition, during a Human Rights Council’s Universal Periodic Review, North Korea did not accept any of the 167 recommendations that were suggested (Wolman). North Korea is too stubborn to make any reforms that as a consequence, their people suffer because none or very little resources goes into taking care of the them. Currently, many things are happening to solve the crime at hand, such as six-party talks and the UN Human Rights Council. During the six-party talks, attention towards North Korean human rights violations is being brought to light. An example is Japan, they are spreading awareness for North Korean human rights because they are trying to resolve the situation where Japanese citizens are being abducted (Lefkowitz).
