What interested you in becoming an academic librarian? Amy’s library experience before she decided to become an academic librarian was minimal, but no less rewarding. Describe your particular interest in attending UNE COM and any contact you have had with UNE COM students, alumni, faculty or clinicians, admissions counselors, student affairs staff, etc. How did these interactions influence your decision to apply? The University of New England College of Medicine has an interesting curriculum that is centered around the patient in order to treat the mind, body and spirit. This curriculum is appealing to me because not every patient symptomatology follows the textbooks and it is vital to learn with a patient focused curriculum and through the use of case studies. In addition to the curriculum, the University of New England provides a unique environment to learn and practice medicine through the use…

I interviewed Timothy Beatty who is the dad of my friend Jonathan. I chose him because he works in software engineering, but majored in marine biology while minoring in chemistry and computer science engineering. This intrigued me because in high school I took an oceanography class and fell in love with the study, I wanted to major in oceanography and minor in marine biology, but I figured engineering would be more economic. I still love engineering, so it is not something I’m doing just for the jobs or money. In fact, I am considering a minor in computer science engineering since programming is so fun.…

From the moment Ms. Sorapure started talking, I was interested in what she was there to talk to us about: data visualization, or rather how Images convey meaning, convey messages to the viewer in the same fashion that writing does. Being both an auditory and visual learner (I am just the most high maintenance, believe me I’m aware), I was eager to have a more comprehensive idea of what goes into making information easier to record, understand, and share. Considering I'm planning on going into some sort of communications work (be it journalism, public relations, what-have-you), I was inherently more tuned in to what Ms. Sorapure had to say about her career and pathway from studying metafiction/reflexive fiction unto autobiographies, online diaries, web design, and ultimately, data visualization.…
