The Northern and Southern colonies were economically similar and different in various types of ways. With the spread of their journeys into upcoming colonies in the New World, there created conflict between the colonist and the Native Americans. In both the North and South there were easier ways of building up their economies, but also some of the different types of ways were challenging and not as successful.

Tobacco, for a very long time, was what they all received their source of income from. Since the South had so much work to keep up with, because now sugar and rice also were becoming a huge deal. The work would be hard to do with just the family, so indentured slaves became a huge deal. The South's land was very suitable for cash crops and they could plant and sell yearly because of the perfect weather. The South overworked many of their slaves, and some would begin to die from disease, starvation, or exhaustion. There were very few women in the South, as in the beginning it was strictly men and then women began to be sent over.
The economy had a huge impact on people socially. For example, in the North since there was so much trade involved, people had to communicate daily. They were all very close and always were involved with the lives of others. As for the South, communication was not so involved socially because of the fact that the plantations were spread out and people just provided for themselves more easily than coming together.
