In 1964, Norman Rockwell created the painting, The Problem We All Live With. This painting illustrates four deputy U.S. marshals escorting six-year old, African-American girl, Ruby Bridges, to an all white public elementary school. This was during the New Orleans school desegregation crisis and she was escorted by these deputy marshals because of all of the violence ad threats made against her. Rockwell puts you in the point of view of the white protesters as a way to focus in on the child. Racial slurs and rotten tomatoes are shown to convey the opinions of the protesters.
