Norman Ollestad, also known as "Boy Wonder" was born in California. He was born May 30th, 1967. Ollestad started surfing and skiing with his dad when he was young. Norman lived with his mom and her boyfriend, Nick who was abusive, mentally and physically and was always hard on Norman. His father lived elsewhere with his girlfriend, Sandra . His childhood consisted of trips with his father, him skiing, surfing, skateboarding, and playing hockey. Normally, when he was young his father would often push him to the point where he wouldn't like surfing nor skiing, until Norman had rode a great wave while surfing and Norman started skiing competitively.
