Norman Cousins 'The Decline Of Neatness'

In their article “The Decline of Neatness” Norman Cousins discuss how the “sloppiness virus” is affecting the society these days. People these days are working really hard to look improper and careless basically by the way they dress and they look. Blue jeans that were once appreciated when they were clean and new by the looks of them are now more loved in a different condition now a days. Most of the people love to wear what seems to be old and worn like million times but in fact is new. All the brands are manufacturing clothes that seem to be discarded and been worn by workers at a factory or some construction site. Most people for example take their parents for granted. Using higher voice to talk to our parents and ignoring our parents what they say. This casual and sloppy behavior is affecting the relation between me and my mother and I never realized it until she allowed me to leave her and go to United States for continuing my higher studies, a country that I have never been to and don’t know anyone here. My casual behavior and kind of rough behavior with my mother worsened at times just because she wasn’t allowing me to leave Pakistan. Eventually because of my behavior she at some point allowed me to go but it was a matter of time that I realized that I had no respect for what she had planned for me.
