PLAGIARISM, AMERICAN AND YORUBA CULTURE.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism according to the University of People (2015) refers to the unwholesome act of capturing someone else’s work, words or ideas as one’s own original work whether mistakenly or intentionally in the process of satisfying an academic obligation or exercise. Furthermore, University of People (2015) went ahead to elaborate on this unwholesome act and elaborated ways in which plagiarism can be said to have been committed, four of which are highlighted below.
- Refusal to highlight a direct statement or quotation of someone else’s work with the appropriate citation and quotation marks.
- Submitting an academic work belonging to someone else and falsely claiming responsibility.
- Changing and manipulating portions of work(s) of someone else without making appropriate reference or acknowledging the owner/author(s).
- Use of basically the materials/contents of only one source in …show more content…
