Me(Shouting): Expelliarmus

Aunt(still confused): What do you mean
Me(laughing): Uni is going good.

My aunt was confused and she totally ignored what i said, later on she went to my mother and asked her what they were teaching me in university, that is when my mother explained the assignment i had.

The conversation i was having with my uncle was very funny, we were sitting and talking about my cousins and making fun of them.

Uncle: Look at shamsa, look at how she is sitting.
Me(Shouting): Spectumsempra
Uncle: Spektumspooora

He thought i was saying something that was an insult to my cousin and he liked it, i couldn't continue because i kept laughing at his reaction, i didn't expect it. He later on kept saying Spektumspoora for the whole day.

I finally tried the conversation with my grandmother.

Grandmother: can you pore me some coffee please

I’ve usually learned in hard way because frankly, I love to challenge myself to expand my personal capacity. Although I had already talked to one of my classmates about having interview with her as a Caucasian woman, I decided to do it with my cousin’s friend, Jacob, who I met in my place for the first time during Thanksgiving holidays. Interviewing Jacob about his interactions with other cultures has made me realize that I have a lot to learn about the meaning of the privilege and holding it. Jacob was a 24-year-old Caucasian, who lived in Missouri his entire life. Though he was visiting California for the second time in his life, he was in a Persian house for the first time.…

Norm referenced tests are used to compare and rank test takers to one another. This is determined by comparing scores against the performance results of a group of test takers with typically the same characteristics as same age or grade level, who have previously taken the exam (Great Schools Partnerships, 2015). These tests have been used for many years in education to assess children in need of special education services using best practices associated with norm-referenced tests. There are legal requirements for each test administered to students and each state usually has their own set of requirements, and only an approved set of individuals has access to these test results. Best Practices When practitioners evaluate a child, a common way of doing so is through the use of norm-referenced tests; meaning that the answers the tests conclude are based on the average score of those most similar to the child.…

Throughout this year of Global Connections we have talked about the importance of laws and when it is okay for an individual to break laws. There are some laws that are there to protect everyone which keep the people safe and also give them a right to have a voice, but there are certain laws that do the opposite and this gives individuals the opportunity to rebel. An individual should violate the law when it is unreasonable towards people or it treats certain people unfairly while others are treated with protection/respect. In semester one we had watched a movie called “Nightjohn” and it explained how people of different races were treated differently and how one person was able to go against the rules in order to become equal.…

A few days ago, I simply could not seem to stop thinking about that first day last week that my father went to work in the stockyards. He had left in the morning happy to finally have a job, but I had seen the slight worry cross his face, just for a second, as he had put on his shoes. At dinner, he only answered our questions with short answers, and when I tried to talk to him at night about the stockyards, he said it was getting late and that I must get some sleep I wonder if maybe his first day didn’t go the way he thought it would, or maybe the stockyards were not like what he had expected. Maybe his first day at the stockyards was even like my first day at high school, when I got yelled at by my teacher for coming to class late, even though I apologized for getting lost trying to get there.…
