Many new shops and companies have used technology to become better than its competitors. An example would be Uber; it has used technology to defeat taxi. It has a great tracking system and the payment is all done online. Another example is Nordstrom, it is shop that has also used technology in a positive way, this report will explain exactly that.

Who are they? American line of luxury founded by John W. Nordstrom and Carl F. Wallin in 1901 in Seattle, Washington. The company originally started as a shoe retailer and increased its inventions to include clothing, accessories, handbags, jewelry, cosmetics and fragrances. Some Nordstrom have wedding and home furnishings departments.

To start off with, Nordstrom has an online store, which is really convenient for customers overseas like in Australia where there aren’t any proper stores. It is very easy to place an order of any item(s) of clothing and have it in front of your door in a couple of weeks. Nordstrom has prioritized enhancing mobile service; it has created an app for Android and Apple which has made shopping so much easier to do on a portable device anywhere you go. Nordstrom makes sure customers receive all the information about new clothes coming in and any sale that is present in any of the stores or online. This particularly useful for people who shop at HauteLook and The Rack where certain items are sold out more quickly.

How does this makes them better than their competitors? Nordstrom is placing itself in a position where it can expand in the years ahead by beating it competitors. Macy’s and Dillard’s are finding it hard to generate sale growths against Nordstrom.
