Declan and I actually witnessed to her first and she is the one that told us to call to her husband. Please pray for her salvation. Also, please pray that Norbert will be baptized soon!

She’s still showing incredible growth too. She has very much embraced Jesus, but what’s more is that she feels included in church community, to the degree she has been giving back in the form of serving at Sunday morning worship and having the group over to her home occasionally. Indeed, she’s quite surprised me by her openness to being called out on her sins and stepping into…

Living to be 100+: Dan Buettner “How to Live to be 100+” conveys three different blue zones Okinawa, Sardinia, and California and how people in those blue zones live to be one hundred. He explains three simple ways a person can interact with their surroundings to gain a better perspective on how they may reach the age of one hundred: . He argues that a plant based diet with a multitude of exercise can exceed the human expectation on how long a person can live. Exercising while eating healthy contributes to a larger range of possibilities such as working until the age of ninety seven as a heart surgeon; however, our community looks upon this as outrageous. Today's communities such as mine are lucky if they even make it to the age of ninety seven,…

Give examples of how the practice of ministry has affected your experience and understanding of A) God At the core of my understanding of God is a God of love in covenantal relationship with God’s children. Romans 8:38-39 says it well; “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The practice of ministry has only proven to strengthen that belief. I was called early Saturday morning to sit with a family who had just learned of the death of their daughter/granddaughter in a vehicle accident.…

Publix: Where Shopping Should Be, But is Not, a Pleasure I think, in the Fall of 1930, George W. Jenkins endeavored to emulate lionized, yet-to-be-born-television-icon-Oprah-Winfrey. A furtive and sinisterly burly man, I believe, he traipsed into burgeoning Southeastern neighborhoods and bellowed, “You get a Publix! You get a Publix! YOU GET A PUBLIX!” Frightening (and expensive… so, so expensive).…

Leadership on the line by Ronald A. Heifetz and Marty Linksys is a very timely book. Maggie’s description of her Indian community and the effects of alcohol made me think of many urban communities and the pain that lurks in those communities. The stories she shares about Lois and the heart she had for her community and desire to make it better make you think we need more leaders like that. Lois leadership inspired me because she saw something wrong in her community she believed she could bring change. Lois is a good picture of servanthood she doesn’t sit and think someone should so something…

For over 6,000 years, people have been criticizing others based on rumors heard or first hand experience. Many criticisms lead to persecution and ignorance from everyone involved in the situation. Similar to criticisms in modern society, judgments have lead to several persecutions and realizations in literature such as The Crucible and my personal life as well. People should judge others by their inner character, because when they do it brings out compassion; however, when people do not judge by inner character it brings outs qualities such as confusion and insecurity. Last February my friend Bethany showed compassion to her friend Peyton by bringing her to church and changing her life.…

I asked myself the question “how can we make a long-term effect on a short-term mission trip?” This idea centered around the lessons we were teaching the children throughout the day. I noticed that the children we well informed about God and how to become a Christian. Pastor Vernon gives them lessons every week, probably the same lessons we were giving them. The children were hungry for more than a preschool version of the bible.…

Sunday March 27, 2016 I had the opportunity to sit down and meet with my niece Nu, my daughter Tracey, Sister Jackie, and my nieces Katrice and Paula. First, I presented to the group that the purpose of the meet, which was to get clarity on about Muslim belief and that Nu was going to help us with that. Second, that everyone has an open mind as we discuss this topic. It was expressed that because most of our morals and beliefs are of another religion, the family was lacking knowledge in of the Muslim beliefs and morals. They were told that Nu has agreed to help the family gain a better understanding of this religion, so that a level of respect will be established between Nu and the family.…
