Rubbing Off in the 110 I’ve always been involved with marching band most of my time in school starting in 5th grade. I fell in love with it. I consider marching band an art form. The band marches in many different designs or a patterns on the field while playing music, and for the Marching 110, they perform a dance at the end. For the rubbings project, I wanted to celebrate my time here at Ohio University and give thanks to The Most Exciting Band In The Land.…

Love is unique, it’s an emotion that we suppress. We bury it deep inside ourselves till we find that special someone, then we set it free. It takes control of our bodies, our mind, our way of thinking, and our actions. For the purpose of believing we love someone. What if the person that you loved, didn’t love you back, or if it was misguided by lust instead or they were using you?…
Addressing the complexities articulated within the act of ethnic identity enunciation, the art of writing is granted the power of eliciting a counter discourse. Ethnic identity, be it a heterogeneous construct fashioned by and through the narrative it sustains, unravels the interplay between competing discourses of power .To transcend the boundaries of marginality infused in the supremacy given to certain languages over others, voicing minorities plight of exclusion can only be maintained through the re- appropriation of their own linguistic medium .In the same way that language creates and determines discourse, identity is re-constructed; it is manifested in the very act of writing and narrating the shared experience of a given…

The centralization of the practice in Mexico City may seem worrisome at first glance, but it’s important to remember that the greater Mexico’s capital city, with a population of about 21 million, is the confluence point for economy and culture in the whole country. People from all over the country have made Mexico City their home. This, added to the fact that the country has a decentralised arts infrastructure, even though it’s not always completely functional, permit to imagine that the live coding practice will find a proper and healthy expansion throughout the country in years to come. But most importantly, this expansion will occur naturally by the inherent qualities of live coding that combine so well with the needs of the artistic community in Mexico, a new economy country plagued by a long story of corruption and injustice towards most of the population by an ultra enriched and racist elite that systematically suppresses the native cultures and the women in general, making sure to increasingly shrink the possibilities for diversity, inclusion, good education, and artistic expression with every change of government.…

Although I am not certain of my specific career path, I hope setting aside time for graduate study will support me in solidifying my passions and finding my purpose. However, in essence I wish to support and facilitate the magic of museums. I am moved by the times I was struck with awe looking at a dinosaur replica as a child, excited by stone tools from ancient societies as a teenager, or inspired by an artist’s dynamic brushstrokes as an adult. I want to internalize these experiences and connections, using my work to recreate them for others. Allowing visitors to forge unique memories while inspiring wonder is my ultimate…
