In Act 1, Nora wanted to spend a lot of money on Christmas. Therefore, Torvald called her a "spendthrift"(2).. She started to shy away from those actions and become more of a mother as the text went on but she didn’t shy away from making the wrong decision time after time. She made decisions that hurt her family and hurt herself, showing that she was not capable of making decisions for herself. She was seen as a money feign and she could not control herself. This contributed to her as a character in the book and a human being not a doll. The nickname “spendthrift” came from actions such as the attitude and perception Nora had of christmas when she kept trying to spend money and not take care of her priorities. Even though according to her husband those were bad for her and she did not want her to even eat those. Torvald ask Nora “not even a little nibble?’’(3). The common idea for New Years is changing yourself. Although it wasn’t present in the text as much, it still remained a factor. At the beginning of the text, it was christmas time.
