The feedback I provided students on the nonfiction texts feature assessment addressed each individual needs and strengths relative to the standard being measured because it provided students with written exclamation on how well they performed on the assessment then I discussed the areas they had specific difficulty with, which included following through of the directions needed to complete the assessment to earn full credit. For example one student gave an answer but did not include the name of the text feature used to locate the information needed to answer the questions. I provided feedback for the students to look at the underlying sentences in the direction because she had forgotten to include the text feature and some her answers were not written using full sentence as …show more content…
We discuss a plan to help him practices his writing f do a better job in expressing his writing across the board. I continue to explain that not all teachers will accept this work because it is illegible to some degree and this can greatly affect his grade. When conferring with student B my average student, I gave her positive feedback on the things she did correctly and we discussed why she got partial credits for question 2 and 4 on the written response portion of the assessment. I pointed out that on question2 she had omitted the name of the text features uses to answer the questions, and question 4 she did not write a complete sentence as the instruction stated. I asked her what was a definition of each text feature she missed she was able to verbalize the answer to me which demonstrated she knew the answer but made an error and did not take the time to review her work before she turned it in. Student was given the opportunity to double check her work making the necessary correction and return the assessment to me for further

Student A from the morning class has a learning disability that prevents him from focusing and becomes easily frustrated. During one on one instruction, I would repeat the directions and sometimes the child will have moments, For example, there was an ant on his backpack, and he began to scream and run while most students will stomp on the bug. Student A made progress but will benefit from special education because the student will receive more attention compared to a regular classroom. Regular classes are unable to provide that one on one instruction and teachers may not be adequately trained to teach children with a learning disability. (Spring, 2014, pg. 126)…

During small group instruction there are days where she will try to do the work and other days she will look off into space and not want to do anything. I often have to encourage her to stay on task with anything she does whether it’s individual or in small group instruction.…

As much as the questions in the common assessment attempt to assess students’ common knowledge and progress, they fail to be objective and should be clearer. The semantics of questions vary upon how they’re interpreted. Also, what seems to be reasonable turns out to differentiate with the established answer choices in many cases. Along with that, with the state of being subjective, more than one answer choice can be correct. In the English 1 - Unit 5 Common Assessment, a letter is provided for the readers to analyze and base answers of given questions with.…

This week, I had the privilege to read and respond to Tori’s response to Brooks’ essay. She mainly discussed how she believes that the students in the writing consultations should be doing most of, if not all of the work. Tori discussed the importance of the environment created in the Writing Center, as well as the power of student-centered work. While her essay was very strong in the points she brought out of his essay and analyzed thoroughly, I believe that she could have gone more into depth in examples as to what she discussed.…

I remember the first time I wrote an essay that was being graded at the college level. This was in my junior year when I took AP Language and Composition, our first essay was a rhetorical analysis essay from a very old excerpt that used old english and was very hard to read. When I first started reading the passage I started to get nervous because I didn't understand what the text was saying but then I started to annotate and the passage began to make sense. I found many rhetorical strategies that the author used and I then began to outline the essay in my head.…
