From as long as I can remember I used to always read books. My parents made it very clear to me that if you don’t read you can’t get anywhere in life. So they made it a priority to read. Back in Nigeria I read many books like Mrs. Bello it is a Nigerian novel that many people but Nigerians will not know, but many Nigerians read it growing up. I don’t remember much about the book but my brother has told me good things about it. Even though I grew up reading I never really liked it. My parents would always try to enforce the habit of reading in me, whenever I say I want to relax the will alway suggest I read I book and I kind off didn’t like that. I always thought that I would only enjoy fiction book like Mrs. Bello, because they always appeared more interesting to me. But he hated his father. His father was old and weak and he felt he was an unnecessary burden he had to carry, because he had to protect him and also protect himself. This didn’t sit well with me. I felt like it was almost inhumane for him to wish his father would die so he wouldn’t have to sacrifice anything. I expected that going through such a traumatic experience would bring them closer together, it felt like his dad wanted to get closer to the son, but the son wanted to grow further from the dad. This baffled me so I asked Mr.

Unlike the literature I am required to read during the school year, the books that I read for pleasure are more focused on issues that can relate to one's actual life. The books I read for pleasure are more of a release. For example, I read "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel to get a better view on the idea of intangible belief and dry factuality. I enjoyed "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury because it provided a new perspective on the idea of censorship. I also read "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "Of Mice and Men" in order to receive valuable insight on the idea of loss of innocence.…

The result of his brother's death causes his father to flee from home more often. This led to a halt into the development of a young man. Without guidance, without feeling wanted, people aren't going to grow. The fact that his mother remembered his father differently probably confused him a lot more. This situation changes his perspective on life, when he sees how different everything is. He sees that no one knows him. His wife had seemed to never met him, his kids didn’t know who he was, and his parents didn’t know he existed. He was forgotten and this is exposed when he visits his house, in the past life of when he is dead, and sees “two small children rush in. A little, homely-faced flung herself into her mother’s arms, sobbing loudly as a boy of seven came running after her, snapping a toy pistol at her head” (Van Doren Stern 6).…

As a student, I am better at reading rather than a writing, or listening. I am more interested in fantasy books due the adventurous vibes it gives you while reading. The first fantasy book I read was, Eragon, written by, Christopher Paolini. This book was absolutely phenomenal just like the rest of fantasy related books. Was there ever a time you didn’t like to do something, but as you got older you started to love it more than you did as a child? When I was younger, I never liked to read, but now as I have gotten older, I read more and more different kinds of books and novels. My mother put my sister and me into a reading program in elementary school because our reading levels were lower than they should be. There were no criteria so we read books that were interesting to us, like the Given Tree by Shel Silverstein and Charlotte’s Web by E. B. White. When we finished reading them we would go around and talk about the book we read.…
