Non Traditional Jobs

Nontraditional jobs are jobs that are gender specific or gender restrictive (Ex. a woman as a constructor, or a man as a florist) a career has to have less than 25% of a specific gender to be considered a “non-traditional career”.Employing a person of the “restricted gender” benefits both the employer and the employe, it helps the employee by giving them a job, and the company in both giving a more “gender equal” reputation, it also helps them in gender specific tasks. Women working white collar positions are seen as a minority and women of colour are seen as a racial minority. This is because many white collared careers such as lawyers, accountants, and doctors are filled by Caucasian males. As a result, these women face a higher risk of being discriminated in the workplace. Another result of this is that women, both coloured and Caucasian, may find it more difficult to find a secure and high paying job. This is due to their employers not believing they are qualified enough to take on this position.…
