I am going to address acetaminophen. It is a Non-Narcotic analgesic. Although not fully understood, acetaminophen is believed to prevent the combination of prostaglandins in the central nervous system and work peripherally to block pain impulse generation. Acetaminophen addiction is more common than most people would think. A person can damage their liver permanently by taking an excessive amount of acetaminophen. Teenagers can be at great risk for acetaminophen addiction. For example, boys take them to alleviate the pain from football practice because they don’t want the coach to think they “can’t handle it”. Girls take them for cramps. It is not a problem in either case, except when they are taking acetaminophen like it’s a bag of candy, unaware that they are causing damage to their livers ("acetaminophen, Tylenol & Others: Side Effects &
