In the seventh century, the different tribes in the city of Yathrib fought and persecuted one another over religion, territory, and economic gain that created chaos in the region. In order to restore peace within the tribes, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) created a new peaceful city-state and instituted the Constitution of Medina, which provides equal protection of all citizens regardless of their differences. The same way that society views Muslim people is the exact same way that the criminal justice process treats them which is unfair I believe. Because a person is Muslim the criminal system believe they are most likely to be a terrorist and automatically start monitoring individuals just because they are Muslim. For instance, Muslims are placed on watch list for one reason and that is because they are Muslim is really unfair to the individuals who do not take part in any violent or terrorist activities. Over the course of time, our perception of human rights has changed drastically, considering back in the day these rights were only given to a certain group of people. The main contributor to this is the natural divide between races and their conflicting cultures, where one race believes that their values and beliefs rank superior to another. Even today, prejudice beliefs and media outlets cause us to alter our views and dehumanize others based on both race and culture. Although basic human rights should be given to every person, throughout history the perspectives and lifestyles of certain people have barricaded others from receiving these rights. Mankind has dealt with integrating civil right laws in many civilizations since BCE, but many of those laws in that time period were only granted to the men…

Everyone has freedom of religion, speech, press, and petition. This is important to remember because no one should have the right to treat others unequally, only because you have a type of power, authority or even if you think you are more superior than others because of your race that does not give anyone the right to treat someone in this form of matter, everyone was born the same and everyone was given the same rights. Yet so far in today’s society all of that has been taken or destroyed by authority, violence, and racial discrimination, based on a New York Times article on “Race and discipline” by Richard Fausset, Richard Perez-Pena, and Alan Blinder it mentioned how a white police officer attacked a black student for an act of bad behavior in a form of discipline, “ Even though she was wrong for disturbing the class even though she refused to abide by the directions of the teacher, the school administrator and also the verbal commands of our deputy, I’m looking at what our deputy did.” (Richard Fausset).…
