Non DAP Classroom Analysis

Improved Essays
Another description of a non-DAP classroom is for teachers that are not listening to the needs of their students. If a teacher is running a circle time, but the children are getting restless and she continues her lessons, then she is not listening to the needs of the students. We as teachers need to understand that there will be times that our schedules and our planned lessons will need to be adjusted. If a teacher continues a circle time and it is now over 20 minutes and she has students that are clearly not showing an interest anymore then she needs to recognize that something needs to be adjusted. It is OK to stop something that doesn’t seem to be working and maybe at a later time in the day it can be continued. It is important to listen

Throughout the year AVID has helped me learn organizational skills enormously. I say this because at the beginning of the year I didn’t know how I was going to complete all the work I received and I didn’t really understand the time management part. So as we started getting more and more homework, I found it was important to use your planner and to do your homework the night it was assigned. Several times I fell into a whole on Thursday nights, when we had binder the next day.…

Two challenges that I find when implementing DAP in the classroom would be meeting children where they are so that they can reach goals and making sure that the goals and experiences are suited to their learning and development. Developmentally appropriate practices suppose to help children succeed, but how can you help a child that is ELL succeed in the classroom if you are suppose to meet them where they are? Meeting these children where they are will require you to use a lot more attention on these students. As the teacher of these children, I will strive harder and give my best to provide them equal opportunities to learn and succeed in school. The attention that each student receives is equally important to the learning process within…

This is a non-traditional high school and based on the population and my experience during the fall semester I still think that there is a lot to do here for this particular population (about their age, legal and social status). Everybody seemed very committed to work hard to support these students. It is true that regarding working with them in regular sessions is a challenge for the counselor. I feel it is difficult to work directly with students as probably I could have worked in a traditional school. I am really interested in working with this population and I also feel that if someone wants to learn and understand the immigrant population in other schools in this area and other areas this is a great place to learn.…

Sorry for putting 01F and 02F, I have not found documentation for which class I am in. As a non-traditional student (I am 62), attending GSU part time, I have settled into a schedule that has been working out great. I am not at GSU to use it as a stepping stone for a new career, I am here only for the education. This is my tenth semester, of which the last six semesters I have done at least one online class.…

Being a nontraditional student it is essential you possess good time management skills. As a student, I have a full time job, a part time job, educational obligations, and volunteer coach in my local community. This may seem overbearing from the outside looking in, but by managing my time properly I can easily accomplish these things. I am a full time police officer, work part time as an armed security guard, coach baseball in a local youth league, and taking two classes at once while enrolled with Bethel University. This can appears to be a lot on one person, however by using effective time management skills it is very manageable.…

During senior year, I have thoroughly enjoyed taking Psychology AP and delving into the many intriguing topics that make up the course. The subject matter of this course is very interesting to me compared to some of my other classes like biology. I also believe that your teaching style has helped me learn the content well due to the topical outlines and entertaining lectures. Compared to other courses in which the teacher merely lectures in an organized fashion, this class has been very user-friendly in terms of understanding content. Overall, the three most intriguing topics that we have covered throughout the school year have been improving the ability to learn, sleep, and defense mechanisms.…

I had the biggest educational barrier that I faced throughout my junior year. This barrier was having the hardest AP class, AP Biology. Since I was very new to this educational system it was very hard for me to cope up with all my classes even though it was just one AP class. At first, I did not know what AP was and I took it because I told my counselor that Biology was going to be my major in college and so she gave me this class which I willingly accepted. After getting into that class I found out that it was a college level class.…

The Developmental Psychology course has taught me about wisdom. It has forced me to consider what I think wisdom is, to identify people I know who are wise according to my definition, to determine who can become wise as well as to understand how people become wise. The course definition of wisdom states that “wisdom is a hypothesized cognitive characteristic of older adults that includes accumulated knowledge and the ability to apply that knowledge to practical problems of living.” Similarly, I believe that wisdom is having a great deal of knowledge about a variety of different topics, such as historical events, different cultures, human behaviour and law as well as being able to apply that knowledge to determine what is right in a given situation.…

Second school was Horizon Science Academy, where I observed fifth grade and recourse room. Lastly I visited Kiser schools again, and observed Self contained multiple disability classrooms.…

Generation Me students will do better if the teachers are willing to adjust their lessons into a more innovative experience. Similar to GenMe’ers that work in jobs, they provide motivation through encouragement. In order for students to “try harder” it would have to be the teacher’s responsibility. What teachers present to GenMe’ers incorrectly is the terrible kind of encouragement that misleads them, like “Believe in yourself” or “You be whoever you want to be”. Presenting many points on how to create a more innovative classroom for younger children, the author of “A More Innovative Classroom Can be as Easy as One, Two, Three,” Joseph S.C. Simplicio discusses, “Assigning projects that will produce work worthy of once again being displayed…

I can empathize with teachers who say that the observation and evaluation process does not seem reciprocal in nature. Most of my follow-up evaluations have either been waived or conducted in five minutes or less in which the principal hits upon the highlights of my observation. Very few teaching lessons have been learned through these interactions. In her article though, Shelly Arneson includes sound practices that can be implemented to alleviate many of the concerns of the evaluation process. Her basic premise is to shift the dialogue from inspection-based conversation to a reflection-based conversation.…

Learning everything that I keep on learning throughout college and experiences, makes me that much more passionate in becoming a future educator that could potentially make a change for children. When I first began my journey through education and getting my degree, I connected it with my experiences of when I was in school. Now that I have learned the difference about school and education and the different teaching methods, I will continue striving to do my best and learn as much as I can to help others.…
