Fredrik Idestam and Leo Mechelin were the founders of Nokia. Initially Nokia engaged in Rubber and cable industries from 1865 to 1967 and then transformed itself into the telecommunications sector. Gradually Nokia became the leading mobile phone manufacturer in the world and maintained its dominance until 2011. Nokia was a pioneer in the introduction of the smart phone and its development. Models like the Nokia 6600 (sales over 1 million), Nokia n70 and Nokia n95 were the iconic smart phones. But the emergence of Android Operating system has caused a huge shake up in the industry and forced Nokia out of the front runners.
As mentioned above we can clearly see that Nokia were forced to innovate in due cause of time to preserve its status in market. First argument is that they would have not been different from any other android developers like Samsung and sony and hence would have lost their identity. Well it is an argument with no basis since the variety of Android phones available. If we consider Samsung we get a separate picture of the smart phones and the same with sony. So why couldn’t Nokia?
