Nocturne Analysis

Overall I think "Nocturne" was a well put together piece of work. It complex and challenging and deep. It was thought provoking and suspenseful.

First, it was shot at night. I believe this was chosen to speak of that nothing good really happens at night. the skateboard rolling at the beginning if foreshadowing how easily it is to get knocked off your feet and life can quickly roll out of your reach. The scene then changes to a guy standing by a car dressed in dark clothing. The guy is in the shadows. He gives off a very disturbing vibe. Almost evil in a sense. There is also a guy in the car with dark clothing and he is quite shadowed himself. They two dark clothed men then begin to chase boy on the skate board through the streets. This was a symbolization of him being chased by his inner demons. He could not seem to shake them so that is how i came to the conclusion that they were a part of him.

He turns a corner and runs into a teen girl. he knocks he purse out of her hand and picks it up and hands it to her. Then the air changes. It is almost as if there is some sexual tension there. It looks like they are about to kiss and the girl turns into the man he was running from. This is making the argument that sometimes in life we think we have shaken off the bad things. That we are finally free but with just a turn of a corner all the things we were running from can come right back up to us without our realization. The kid thought he was in the clear but in the blink of an eye his problems were in his face all over again. Also it speaks to how easy it is to get side tracked. The guy got caught up in the girl and let his guard down and as soon as he did, boom! Problems are right back in his

Where as I normally end up arguing against why a film should be considered a horror film, this time I'm going other way and argue why Lightning Bug is a Horror film. As I stated in Horror, My Definition, a Horror film is a film that used dread and horror, while trying to evoke negative emotions. Lightning Bug does that for me, upon first viewing I wasn't that impressed and disregarded is horror elements. Instead focusing on how its a Coming of Age Drama. But after viewing the film never really settled and has passed through my mind on several occasions and when I reflect on the film it's dark and haunting undertones that remain.…

Crime is a revolving door that continues to be open by those who feel the need to take matters into their own hands. Everyone in society has either witness, experience, or read some sort of crime throughout their lives. According to Donald Black, people who believe their rights would not be justified within our criminal justice system, are more likely to take charge in their own matters. Therefore, incidents where people become victims of a crime, would sometimes lead to breaking the law in order to get vengeance. Black refers this theory as “The Theory of Self-Help.”…

I love your choice in film because this too, is one of my all-time favorite films. Your post is very informative. I enjoyed learning things about the film and its director that I didn’t know before. For example, I had no idea about the other amazing films the director Louis Leterrier directed, The Incredible Hulk is another one of my favorites. Your analyzation of the parts of the film was spot on I think the dénouement is also at the point where the agent is in fact the one behind everything and blows everyone’s mind audience and characters within the film itself.…
