In Mark Owen’s novel, No Easy Day is about Mark’s personal experience in the most elite special teams force in the Navy, Seal Team Six. He goes through many challenges as stated in the novel. He was a SEAL member for many years & was deployed on two missions. One of his deployments was in Afghanistan in 2005 & the other one was in Iraq. He was part of the unit that sent into one of the darkest places in the world, The Tora Bora Caves, because there was intelligence that Osama Bin Laden was in that cave. The intelligence was wrong.
He went through a great deal of training & candidacy to get into Seal Team 6. One of them was saving Captain Philips from Somali Pirates. The team killed three of the pirates, & arrested the fourth member. That member is currently in a federal prison in Arkansas or some state like that. They saved Captain Philips unharmed. They made a movie about it; it’s a good movie. He also persuited arms dealers, Taliban leaders, terrorist recruiters, etc.
Mark wanted to be a SEAL since he was a little boy. He read this book called Men In Green Faces by Former Navy SEAL Gene Wentz & B. Abell Jurus. We are not going to get into this book, since that book is not what my research essay is about. The book inspired him to be what he is right now, a Navy SEAL. He pushed himself to greatness which inspired a quote in his book, " Live a life bigger than you". What that quote means is that you can always push yourself to be better than what you are right now.
He was the best shooter in his squad. He was the sharpshooter. He was also the point man, which is the name given to the top shooter in each
