As time goes on, heroes evolve to their society and mankind speculates; how can one become a hero? When a child pictures a hero, they see a cape, a suit, and the power that one has in a comic book. A hero is described as, “A person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities,” (Merriam Webster). This allows the mind to wander and choose a hero, such as a surgeon. A surgeon is someone who can be spotted during dinner time, or in their workspace. They are sacrificing their time to save others lives. Even though they have a uniform to wear during a procedure, which includes: scrubs, a scrub cap, a stethoscope, and sometimes even gloves; they are not recognized with the stereotypical hero look. Hamlet’s uncle has now married Gertrude, his mother and made a way for him to be King of Denmark, instead of Hamlet. In Marvel’s The Avengers, Iron Man is one of the best known heroes. He is recognized for his bravery and intelligence. Even though Iron Man has a specific cape that provides superpowers, he is not a hero. He is a hero for who he is on the inside. When Iron Man makes his statement towards Loki, it is the discovery of heroism. He tells Loki, the Norse god, “You’re missing the point… there’s no version of this where you come out on top... if we can’t protect the Earth… we’ll surely avenge it,” (Marvel’s The Avengers).
