Yet the enforcement of the National Minimum Wage (NMW) is a highly controversial topic of conversation today. Field (1984) stated that the NMW was intended to guarantee all workers regardless of their status or personal situation an appropriate wage, in a bid to reduce poverty. Over the past decade’s wages have increased tenfold together with standards of living (Richard et al, 2014).
