It has been brought to my attention that, in recent years, motions have been made to decrease NSLP funding. Over time, I have come to see a pattern in the NSLP. My findings include: less financial support (to the NSLP) makes for poorer quality, which makes for low involvement and student participation, which brings even lower income, and the cycle repeats. While funds may be a large part of the cycle, the food condition is the weak link in the NSLP. The decrease in scholar involvement is due largely in part to the rapid decline of quality of food. We need to act to bring learner involvement, backing and, most importantly, excellence back to the NSLP.

At times, this may be true, but not when it comes to the health and wellness of adolescents. With the help of the NSLP, students are given a healthy, on time and consistent meal. With meals being regulated and monitored, these pupils are provided with the nutrients needed for a healthy development. Parents and their children may not see it now, but a well-balanced diet is crucial for learning mechanisms. Currently, learners are offered these healthy items, but due to less than mediocre food and inadequate exposure to sustenance, they are not always willing to eat these. This marks a problem nation-wide. Poor nutrient intake can expose kids to many deficiencies and can cause illness prone children. One in three pediatrics exceed the recommended weight (Childhood Nutrition). Exposing youth to these conditions at young ages, decreases their chances at living a healthy life, for the rest of their life. Although this may seem like enough motivation to improve child health through diet, families that practice proper nutrition as less like to have excessive (and expensive) hospital bills. Inadequate nutrition can be linked to almost any (noncongenital) disorder. Changing the NSLP is not all about schoolchild satisfaction, though it is an added benefit.
